Schedule your open mare to be screened for carrying a foal or being a donor mare for Embryo Transfer. We can track your mare through an estrous cycle, evaluate breeding conformation, discuss known reproductive history and develop a reproductive plan. We offer on-site culture and cytology as needed. Maiden, barren and hard-to-breed mares welcome. HAUL INS WELCOME!
This is a new service to Blevins Farms. This year we will be accepting a few select mares for Embryo transfer. Bring your own recipient mare or use one of ours. Please be sure to contact us to get on the list.
Let us manage your mare for artificial insemination with fresh, cooled-transported, or frozen semen. Our services are offered via appointments for trailering in or dropping off your mare for complete reproductive management. We offer both pasture and stalled care. Open mares or mares with foal at side are welcome.
We offer same day testing for the following via TargetVet:
IGG: "Armed with no antibodies, foals are naturally at risk for infection and disease. Immunoglobulin (IgG) testing is used to quickly and accurately detect low IgG levels in order to immediately begin treatment of immunodeficient foals before serious complications arise. TargetVet's Immuno-Chek G™ testing is more sensitive and accurate than SNAP testing and results are easier to read." From TargetVet https://targetvet.com/igg-foal
SAA: "Detect inflammation faster than other blood tests with SAA (Serum Amyloid A) testing. Inflammation won’t have time to hinder muscle regeneration or impact performance. Faster treatment. Less severe infection. Earlier recovery. In three simple steps and 10 min, you determine if your horse has an active inflammatory condition." From TargetVet.
P4: "Progesterone levels are key to determining many aspects of a mare’s reproductive cycle such as what stage the mare is in the cycle, pregnancy diagnosis, embryo viability, and more. Because of the time required and difficulty in getting accurate progesterone results from a laboratory, equine practitioners typically resort to extensive progesterone supplementation rather than planning actions based on knowledge of actual progesterone levels present." From TargeVet.
We accept VERY FEW mares for Foaling Management. We work closely with multiple vets and hospitals. We offer 24-7 monitoring via state of the art camera system. PH testing is completed on each mare prior to foaling and Breeder Alert systems placed on each mare.
Take a tour of our farm and learn about reproductive and breeding practices. Our educational tours are perfect for groups of all ages and sizes. Come see how we manage 20+ mares and 3+ stallions each day. Visit our mares and stallions!
